what he gets in return is a shot from the curve of his grin down to the point at which his waistband rests against the jut of sharp hipbones, bare from the waist up and maybe he has the thumb of his free hand hooked into the band of his pants and tugging them down just enough to show off the light dusting of white hair traveling down from his navel. )
