( if it makes you feel better, toji, there had been a time when he wanted to hate you. for everything you'd done in your past, for putting your son up for sale like the only thing he's good for to you was to make a profit — but he's had time to let things sit, let them simmer and then boil down to essentially nothing.
he's had a lot of time to think, as it were.
and if it makes you feel even better, there is a whole host of people that don't understand him. he prefers it that way, most of the time. let him stay some manner of annoying-ass enigma that nobody gets, let alone wants to. )
That makes two of us. Humans are really odd things, if you think about it. But I figure if someone can hate for no real reason, they can do the opposite just as easily.
Call me whatever you want, within reason. Just don't call me late for dinner.

You know they don't even call each other by anything other than their family names? They would die for each other, and they both know it. And they're still at that stage. Sometimes I worry about our future, if these children are going to be a part of it.
